Osvita Invitation Information _Ukrainian version On Thursday, June 2, 2011 The Osvita Foundation Inc. is sponsoring its Annual Testimonial Dinner at which time it recognizes individuals and organizations for their outstanding community service, charitable contributions and for enhancing and supporting the promotion of Ukrainian language, culture and history. The Osvita Foundation Inc. was established in 1982 as a charitable organization that provides support to the Manitoba Parents for Ukrainian Education. The Osvita Foundation is committed to supporting excellence in education through the promotion of the English Ukrainian Bilingual Program (EUBP). EUBP is celebrating over 30 years of Ukrainian language education in the public schools of Manitoba. At this year’s testimonial dinner the Osvita Foundation is pleased to honour two Ukrainian Youth Organizations that for decades have provided enriching educational and cultural programming. PLAST Ukrainian Youth Association of Manitoba is a scouting organization grounded in values of duty to God, country, and to others that promote sound moral ethics, consideration for the dignity of the individual, good citizenship, social responsibility, volunteerism, and respect for nature and the environment. They are framed within a strong context of respect for and commitment to the Ukrainian community, Ukrainian language, culture and heritage. Plast’s programs, often described as “fun with a purpose”, are guided by the scouting models of learning by doing and leadership by example. The Ukrainian Youth Association, CYM, an educational organization for youth founded in Ukraine in 1925, is currently active in 10 countries. Based on the principles of Christian ethics and Ukrainian patriotism, CYM’s primary objective is to raise awareness among new generations of Ukrainian children and youth about their rich heritage, language and culture. Emphasis is placed on good citizenship and leadership development, particularly as it relates to the individual’s role in the Ukrainian community. CYM was established in Winnipeg in 1949. The Board of Directors of the Osvita Foundation invites you to join us in honouring The PLAST and CYM Ukrainian Youth Associations on June 2 at Canad Inns Polo Park. Please find enclosed a ticket order form which you may use to purchase your ticket and reserve your place at our 2011 Testimonial Dinner.
